Sewing...

A few weeks ago I had a lovely surprise and found myself to be the winner of a sewing machine from Spotlight!  I have made two things so far and can't wait to make more. Here's just a quick look.

I have been hating the storage solutions for clothes in our house for some time now. I have been putting all sorts of underwear into these tiny little draws. I can never find what I want, let alone matching socks. After unsuccessfully googling my problem I had a brainwave. The hubby and I have been throwing out old clothes so I cut a few up into squares, sewed them together, added some tulle off an old wedding dress we have lying around; and one Saturday afternoon later I have space! 

I also brought these terribly cheap patterns off Trademe for around $2. I have started making my first ever proper dress. I will post a picture when it is finished.

I have also lengthened a dress I had, with some lace which I love. I think the dress looks much more grown up.

Pin Cushion

The only pin cushion I have ever made looks like a sack with brown spots. I decided it was high time to make a new one. What better thing to use but one of my Grandmothers tea cups. The gorgeous paintings inspired the rest of the design. Roses definitely need lace, satin and pearly pins.
